Carrier: Binaural Beats
Support
Carrier is a binaural beat generator for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It gives you continuous control over both the beat frequency and the carrier tone, rather than a fixed menu of presets.

Common questions
- Do I need headphones?
- For a binaural beat, yes. The effect only exists when each ear receives its own tone. Through a speaker the two tones mix in the air and you hear a pulse instead — a real effect, but a different one.
- Why does playback stop when I unplug my headphones?
- That is deliberate, so a session started at bedtime does not become a room-filling drone. If you want speaker playback, turn on Continue on speakers in the app.
- Does it keep playing when the screen locks?
- Yes. You can also play and pause from the lock screen.
- Why does the carrier tone change when I pick a different band?
- Each band remembers the carrier you last used with it, and starts at a pitch suited to its beat frequency. A fast beat needs a higher carrier — at a low one the two tones drift far enough apart to be heard as an interval rather than a beat. The sliders stay free; move them wherever you like and that band will remember.
- Are my settings saved?
- Yes. Beat, carrier, volume, warmth and your per-band pairings all persist between sessions, on your device only.
Hearing safety
Prolonged listening at high volume can damage hearing. Set a comfortable level before starting a long session.
